RCOH Meetings and Events

APRIL 22nd MEETING

We expect a large turnout for the April 22nd meeting with Senator Schatz, so members need to register before 5 pm March 31st. You may add a guest with your registration. After 5 pm on March 31st, registration will open the remaining seats to other Rotarians and the public.

COKE & LAWRENCE CAMPAIGN

We are halfway to our $20,000 goal. Please give what you can. These funds help keep our club running. It is separate from the SAS Campaign.

SERVICE ABOVE SELF CAMPAIGN

Our Foundation is wrapping up our SAS campaign - so get any donation you want to make before the last day of March. These funds are used for our Service Projects and Scholarships.

Tour De Trash

Notice from Director Clif Purkiser

Several people have expressed interest in this. The City and County of Honolulu puts this on.

We will tour the H-Power plant and various recycling facilities on the island.

There is currently only one scheduled for this year.

Thursday, April 17, from 7:45- 1 PM

There will be other people besides Rotarians going.

Our amazing member, Kandie George is again inviting us to join the MARCH FOR BABIES on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

CONGRATULATIONS TO KANDIE with her new role as Director of the NICU at Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children. (Read about Kandie in the Midweek here.)

Kandie invites all Rotarians to the annual March of Dimes "March for Babies" walk on April 19th 2025. The attendance last year was valued!

Saturday Story Hours at KPT. One Saturday per month, for 2 hours, to provide fun activities and stories to the kids who live at KPT.

Continuing our tradition of a spring work project weekend that has drawn more than 100 participants by involving Rotarians plus inviting the broader community to join us.

SAVE THE DATE AND THE PLACE!
Fall International Service Project in Central Vietnam.

Our fall international service project will be from September 21-26 (arrive no later than Sept 20 in Hue). Please refer to the map. The project is located outside of Dong Ha. We will be building playgrounds and other improvements at rural elementary schools. The work will include installing equipment sets, planting trees and plants, and making a fences and benches.

The post project will run from Sept 27-October 4 (departing October 5 from Saigon). We will start in Dong Hai and visit Hue and Hoi An.

Those wanting to attend the Kyoto Rotary Club’s anniversary celebration in Kyoto from October 7-9 will be "almost there" at the end of the post project tour.

Participation is limited to 20 due to transportation restrictions.
More information, including participants’ costs, will be forthcoming.

Dear friends,

The long-anticipated 27 granite pedestal seats are now clustered along the walking path in different sections of the Centennial Park Waikīki.

The seats are intentionally placed to bring people closer together for conversation and social engagement.

Community support has been key to completing this exciting milestone and we are grateful.

A $10,000 AARP Community Challenge grant from AARP Livable Communities provided partial funding for the seating;
The Waikīkī Improvement Association shared our park update and photos in its March newsletter (attached)

Up next: Phase 2 increment 3 will replace the deteriorating chain link fence with sturdy metal fencing on top of the exterior rock wall and lockable entrance gates on three sides to define the site and improve security.

Fundraising continues and we salute the Osaka Higashi Rotary Club of Japan for its recent generous donation to the park effort.

We want and need you to share some of your projects and initiatives in a booth so we can learn from each other. You have worked hard this last year and having a booth is a wonderful way of exhibiting your Club's successes. Please discuss how you can share at your next meeting and complete the attached form.

As a humanitarian organization, Rotary makes peace a cornerstone of our mission. And so, Promoting Peace is one of our seven Areas of Focus. The Rotary Peace Fellowship and its Peace Centers train leaders to prevent and mediate conflict through fully-funded fellowships for a Master’s Degree or Professional (post-graduate) Certificate in Peace and Conflict Resolution.

Applications for the new academic year, Fall of 2026, are now available. I serve as the D5000 main point of contact and support for the Rotary Peace Fellowship, and I ask for your help in finding qualified candidates.
